The good opportunity of English training was given to me by the company last month. It is very precious!
How time flies! One month, it seemed that was pretty long. Actually, it is too short a period to study English for all of us whose native language is Chinese. GLV (Gateway Language Village) provides a good platform that is Total Immersion English environment. There is ENLGLISH ONLY speaking in GLV premise. We have to listen and speak only in English whatever and whenever.
During the courses, I have learned a lot of valuable things from different teachers who came from different countries.
There are many different and interesting English topics and English program modalities you can choose, such as job, workmanship, business, life, open conversation, hot debate, watching English movie/TV series, basic English spelling and pronunciation, grammar, role plays and games, etc. Therefore, we must be seasoned with different teaching styles and accents. I like these topics and the teachers very much. All of these are very useful for us in the future.

The achievement I have gotten in GLV is that I have built up the confidence. In the past, I didn’t like to talk with foreigners in English especially in the meetings or publics and I had lost a lot of opportunities. The real reason is that most of the Chinese are always worried about the “faces”, because they dare not want to make any mistakes in the conversation. But I got it in GLV. Teachers compel you to make a lot speaking or
expressions or short speeches in the class. In this way, we can build up confidence by ourselves. There is a very classical sentence that “there is no Chinese face for everyone if you want to improve your speaking in GLV”. English is an international language. It becomes more and more important in our life. In my opinions, I think the most important thing is listening. If you can not understand what other people said in English, how can you answer/reply and react. On the other hand, we have to speak in English with foreigners, even though sometimes we can use simple word and body language/posture, but it is very difficult and impractical.

How to improve your English listening and speaking? All of us want to find a key. But there is no shortcut. The correct answer is practice, practice and more practice! I have a few
suggestions that I want to share with other people who want to improve his English listening and speaking. The first important thing you should do that listen to the English broadcast, watch English programs/movies and read English newspapers 30 minutes a day. You can get a lot of valuable/useful information what you want. Don’t care about the new words and strange short sentences when reading and listening, just try to guess the meanings of new words or sentences as per the relation of context. Don’t pause and use dictionary directly. This is a good idea I got from my English teachers in GLV. Another important thing is that you should try to communicate in English with other people who can speak English as you possibly can. Otherwise, please try your best to think in English, do not attempt to translate the sentences from English to Chinese or vice versa when you are listening and talking.
At last, I hope that we can communicate in English each other everyday as we have a good English environment in the company. Don’t be shy. Don’t be care of the mistakes because we can learn from mistakes. Just do it. Just use it. Even if we learn a little a day, we can be successful after all.

上个月，公司给了我一次非常珍贵的机会去参加英语培训。
时间过得真快! 一个月，看似很长，实际上，对所有母语是中文的英语学习者来说实在太短。GLV提供了一个非常好的全封闭的英语学习环境。只有英语可以被允许在GLV使用，我们必须随时随地用英语进行听说训练。
在学习过程中，我从来自不同国度的不同老师身上学习到许多珍贵的东西。在平和，有许多不同的非常有意思的课程和话题可以供学生选择。像工作、同事关系、商务知识、生活、自由对话、辩论、电影和电视剧欣赏、基础 英语拼写和发音、语法、角色扮演和游戏等等。因此，我们必须适应不同的教学风格和老师口音。我非常喜欢这些话题和老师，因为这些对我们将来的工作和学习以及生活非常有用。
我在GLV获得的进步就是我树立起了我的自信心。过去，我不喜欢用英语和老外进行对话，尤其是在会议和公共场合，因此我错过了很多机会。原因就在于许多中国人不敢开口说英语，怕说错，怕丢脸。但是我在GLV找回了我的自信。这里的老师要求你在课堂上不断地去说、去表达，甚者做一次小小的演讲。这种情况下，我们可以树立起信心。这里有句非常经典的话：在GLV学习，如果你想提高你的听说能力，你必须放弃你的那张“中国脸”。

绽放，在未来的日子 |
英语是一门国际语言。它在我们的日常生活中越来越重要。我认为，最重要的部分是听力。如果用英语，你不能理解别人所表达的意思，你怎么能进行交流呢？另外，我们必须用英语和老外进行交流。即使有时候我们可以使用简单的单词和身体语言，但是仍然非常困难和不切实际的。
怎样提高你的英语听说能力呢？我们每个人都迫切地想找到答案。但是这是没有捷径的。正确的方法就是练习、练习、再练习。我有一些小小的建议，可以和想提高英语听说能力的朋友一起分享。首先，你应该每天花30分钟去听英语广播，看英语节目和电影，阅读英语报刊。
你可以获得许多你想要的有用的有价值的信息。当你在阅读和听力过程中，不要太过于关注那些生词、生僻的短语，试着按照上下文的联系去猜测生词和短语的意思。不要立刻停下来就去查字典。这是我在GLV从一位老师那里学到的很好的方法。另外一点就是尽可能多地用英语和那些可以说英语的人士进行交流。否则，请尽可能地多地用英语思考，不要动不动在听说过程中，就试图在中英文之间来回翻译。最后，我希望我们相互之间，每天都可以用英语进行交流，这样在公司里我们就有了一个非常好的英文环境。不要害羞，不要害怕错误，因为只有犯错误，我们才能从中学到东西。尽量去用吧，就算一天学一点，最终我们会成功的。
